Pellegrin has photographed more than ten cover stories for the New York Times Magazine in collaboration with reporter Scott Anderson. He has received numerous awards, including ten World Press Photo awards, Photographer of the Year awards, a Leica Medal of Excellence, an Olivier Rebbot Award, the Hansel-Meith Preis, and the Robert Capa Gold Medal Award. In 2006, he was honored with the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography [1].

Pellegrin became a nominee of Magnum Photos in 2001 and became a full member in 2005 [1].
